GENERAL RULES

Midnite offers horse racing from all tracks in the UK and Ireland. We also offer horse racing from selected tracks in Europe, the US and other parts of the world.

All bets are settled in accordance with the official result and “weigh in”.

We only settle bets after the “weigh in” as after a stewards enquiry or objection the placings may be amended.

Any subsequent change to the official result after appeal will not affect the settlement of your bet.

PALPABLE ERRORS

If Midnite publishes a price for a horse which is an obvious error whether human or technical we reserve the right to void bets at the incorrect price and settle at the correct comparable industry price at the time of bet placement. Also if a race has not suspended and is still available to bet on and the outcome of the race is known all bets win or lose will be made void.

NON RUNNERS / WITHDRAWALS

Non runners are selections that do not come under starters orders.

Non runners are settled as void and stakes are returned on single bets.

In multiple bets the non runner is settled as void and all remaining selections count for settlement purposes.

A treble (3 selections) with a non runner becomes a double on the remaining 2 selections.

This will also apply to any system bets like a Yankee or similar meaning where the non runner appears in any combination of that system bet the non runner will be settled as void.

Selections in walkovers will be treated as non runners and made void in all single and multiple bets.

In the event of a false start any horse who does not take part in the re - run of the race will also be made void and stakes returned.

ABANDONED / POSTPONED

Bets are void if the race is abandoned, the race is declared void, entries change, race conditions change (venue / surface) and if 48 hour declarations do not stand.

If a race is rescheduled to another day and declarations stand (the race is not reopened) all bets will stand.

WIN BETTING

This means your selection in single or multiple bets must win for you to receive winnings.

EACH WAY BETTING

This means your selection in single or multiple bets has two parts:

The Win part and Place part and each part has an equal stake. Eg £5 each way will cost a total of £10. When you bet each way you are placing a bet to win and a bet to be placed with the each way terms that apply to that race.

If your selection wins you will receive winnings from both the win part and the place part of your bet.

If your selection fails to win but is placed with the each way terms that apply to that race you will receive winnings too.

The each way terms for any race dictate the settlement rules and are established by the number of runners taking part and the type of race and NOT by the number of declared runners when you placed your bet.

Standard Place Terms

All races 1 - 4 runners win only (no each way bets allowed)

All races 5 - 7 runners ¼ the win odds for 2 PLACES 1st and 2nd

8 + runners in a non handicap race ⅕ the win odds for 3 PLACES 1st 2nd and 3rd

8 - 11 runners in a handicap race ⅕ the win odds for 3 PLACES 1st 2nd and 3rd

12 - 15 runners in a handicap ¼ the win odds for 3 PLACES 1st 2nd and 3rd

16 + runners in a handicap ¼ the win odds for 4 PLACES 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th

*Currently Midnite does not offer place terms outside of the default terms listed above.

RULE 4 AND HOW IT WORKS

If a horse is withdrawn not coming under starters orders - or is officially deemed by the starter not to have taken part in a race - stakes on that horse will be refunded in single bets or made void in multiple bets and winning bets will be subject to deductions in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4 (c)

Rule 4 is a deduction that is made to winning bets, when the result of the race is affected by a horse or horses not running. It is the method used to settle winning bets that were placed before any horse or horses were declared non runners (withdrawn) in any given race.

The rule 4 reduces the bet returns of winning bets in any race where a horse or horses are declared non runners within certain odds parameters once the race has been priced and your bet has been placed prior to any non runners.

Rule 4 can still apply to bets placed at SP if there was insufficient time to reform the market before the race off time.

See the below table for the deductions which all operators follow:

DEAD HEAT RULES

If two or more horses are deemed the joint or co winner of a race this is known as a dead heat for betting and settlement purposes.

To correctly settle a dead heat the winning bets are settled at full odds but the stake is divided by the number of horses who dead heated for the race.

For example:

3.30 Lingfield

Horse A @ 4/1 and Horse D @ 6/1 cross the winning line together and a dead heat is declared.

A customer with £20 to win Horse A @ 4/1 would normally return £100 but because the dead heat rules apply his stake is halved to £10 and his bet returns £50 rather than £100

UNNAMED FAVOURITES BETTING

Midnite offer betting on unnamed favourites and unnamed 2nd favourites.

The favourite is the horse returned after the race with the smallest SP while the 2nd favourite is the horse returned with the 2nd shortest SP.

Unnamed favourites betting is only allowed as WIN only in singles and multiples

Bets placed on unnamed favourites or 2nd favourites where only one horse is deemed to be that who are withdrawn and non runners will be settled as void and stakes returned.

Dead heat rules will apply for settlement purposes when joint or co favourites/2nd favourites are returned as such by the SP.

FORECAST AND TRICAST BETTING

In the case of a dead heat in any of the applicable finishing places in forecast and tricast bets the dividend will take into account the dead heat and a different dividend will be declared for each outcome.

Unnamed favourites are not allowed in forecast and tricast bets.

FORECAST

We accept forecast bets on all races with 3 or more runners.

If a forecast is accepted on a race with less than 3 runners bets are void and stakes returned.

If you place a forecast and one selection is a non runner the remaining selection will be settled as a win single at SP.

In a combination forecast with a non runner all combinations with the non runner are settled as a win single while combinations without the non runner in the same bet are unaffected.

The dividend declared for winning bets comes from the computer straight forecast which is used industry wide.

Selections in forecast and tricast bets must be named - unnamed favourites are not allowed and will be settled as void.

In the case of only one horse finishing the race and no forecast dividend being declared, all bets with the winning selection to finish first will be settled as a win SP single.

A forecast is a bet on selections to finish first or second. There are 3 options to place these type of bets:

Straight forecast: one bet on two selections to finish first and second in the correct order. So a £2 straight forecast (S/FC) Horse A to beat Horse B = £2 stake

Reverse forecast: two bets on two selections to finish first and second in either order. So a £2 reverse forecast (R/FC) means Horse A to beat Horse B AND Horse B to beat Horse A = 2 BETS @ £2 = £4 stake

Combination forecast: a combination forecast would have 3 or more selections but still trying to predict the first and second in the race. The more selections you use in the bet the more expensive the bet costs. So a £2 (C/FC) combination forecast with 3 selections makes up at 6 bets = £12 stake (A to beat B, B to beat A, A to beat C, C to beat A, B to beat C and C to beat A) = 6 BETS

TRICAST

We accept tricast bets on all Handicap races with 8 or more runners.

A tricast bet has at least 3 selections in one race and predicts the first, second and third. If a tricast bet is accepted and no dividend is declared the bet shall be settled as a forecast on the 1st and 2nd nominated horses. This also applies to each combination in a combination tricast bet.

If 2 horses in a tricast bet are non runners the bet is settled as a win single at SP on the last selection.

In races where only 2 horses finish, tricast bets with the correct 1st and 2nd will be settled as a forecast and all other bets as losers.

In races where only 1 horse finishes, tricast bets with the correct 1st horse will be settled as a single at SP and all other bets as losers.

Straight tricast: one bet with three selections predicting first, second and third in the correct order. So a £2 tricast (T/CAST) Horse A to beat Horse B to beat Horse C = £2 stake

Combination tricast: a combination tricast would have 3 or more selections to finish first, second and third in any order. So a £2 combination tricast (T/CAST) with 3 selections = 6 bets @ £2 = £12 stake.

MAX PAYOUTS

UK Horse racing: 100,000 GBP

Irish Horse racing: 40,000 GBP

Int Horse racing: 20,000 GBP

If winning multiple bets contain selections from different maximum payout groups as above, the lowest max payout group will always apply to establish the max payout for that bet.

HORSE RACING BOOSTS / SPECIAL MARKETS

If any horse or selection within a boosted market is a non runner, the entire bet will be deemed void.

VOIDING HORSE RACING BETS

At this time we cannot void horse racing bets so please be extra vigilant when placing your horse racing bets.
