How Betting Works at Cheltenham

Updated this week

Cheltenham offers a wide range of betting options across all races.

Below are the most common bet types you’ll see during the Festival.

Win Bet

A simple bet on a horse to finish first.

If your horse wins, your bet is paid at the odds taken.

Each-Way Bet

An each-way bet is two bets:

  • One bet for the horse to win

  • One bet for the horse to place

If your horse wins, both parts are paid.
If your horse places (but does not win), only the place part is paid.

Place terms vary depending on:

  • Number of runners

  • Race type

Always check the place terms displayed in the market.

Accumulator (Acca)

An accumulator combines multiple selections into one bet.

All selections must win for the bet to be paid.

In-Play Betting

Many Cheltenham races offer in-play markets.

Odds can change rapidly once the race starts.
